If been looking for a clutch since mine decided to crap out two weeks ago. from the research I have done it seems like many people have had good experiences with IPTs clutch. But I can't find what makes it superior to the Ford kit offered by SHOnut. What is the difference between the two?

I belive that I only need a stage 1 clutch, since my mods are fairly minimal, and don't have any huge plans in the near future. Any suggestions?

Here is the links if it helps.

EDIT: I also need rear bearings (I think that is what I wrote down, but can't really read it headbang ) if this is not included (which i assume) would there be anything wrong with using ford ones would there?

Can't beat the stock clutch kit from shonut in price or clutch feel. It's probably all the clutch you will need. Make sure to get all the wear parts. Use the money saved from the IPT stage-1 clutch to get yourself a Fidanza flywheel. You'll love that combination! And it's like 5 free horsepower to boot!

what do you mean by wear parts?

I was planning on getting the Fidanza flywheel anyway, might as well do it right the first time.

Will the SHOnut clutch hold up very well for agressive driving?

From what I understand, the Ford OEM clutch is actually a pretty solid unit and will last for quite a while. It's the TOB that causes a problem in the drivetrain. I'm sure the OEM clutch along with a ceramic TOB upgrade and Fidanza flywheel will last for a long time.

However, I would imagine the stage I IPT with the same setup would last even longer under more aggressive driving.

If I had the cash and knew I would be doing lots of *cough* cough* track racing, I would just get the stage I IPT, ceramic TOB from shonut (or grizzly paw TOB from spmotorsports) along with that Fidana flywheel.

Hope this help! thumb

Good thinking with the Fidanza. The wear parts are various odds and ends in the clutch housing that wear out. Josh from shonut will know what you're talking about if you ask for them. About an extra $50-60 or so.

It really depends on just how aggressive you mean. I'm sure if you talked to Josh he could clear some things up. If you just mean driving fast but you practice smooth takeoffs then the stock clutch will probably do you just fine. If you want to beat on it on a regular basis at the drag track then you'll probably want something else. But if you don't need anything more aggressive, you can't beat the pedal feel of the stock clutch replacement from shonut combined with a fidanza flywheel. thumb
