I noticed there are two types of end links available, a solid metal bar and thicker, plastic ones. Is there a suggested style?

Either material can work. SHO's came with the plastic looking ones stock on the Gen III's IIRC. I never owned a regular Taurus but maybe that plastic style was used in some of those as well. I only replaced my Gen I&II with the metal ones. That doesn't mean the other might not work.

I currently have the plastic ones but the boots are split and need to replace them.

I prefer the steel ones. I've had a plastic one snap on me before and dont have any idea how it happened.

My suggestion is to get the style that is greasable and have the 18mm fitting that you use to tighten the nut. The ones that have the hex stud will always strip out after a few years of being installed.

Get this style
