diff rebuild

i got the tranny apart and came to see the roll pin holding the main pin had busted off allowing the main pin to float around the diff and eat a little bit of the case up. but i have a few questions for you MTX gurus. What size steel rod should i use to wrap around the collar and weld to the pin? is the roll pin even needed if im welding the diff pin? what should i do to keep the roll pin from coming out again?

there was one guy on here the used 3/16 steel rod iirc and wrapped it completely around the diff and welded it. if you do anything i would recommend that bcz it will be balanced

make sure you have a decent welder that can get some good *********** on the welds.

yes but do i need to put the roll pins in if i weld the ring around diff.
