I was wondering if anyone new a good Detroit area mechanic to work on my 94 MTX SHO. I need to have a new camshaft position senor put in. I'm not sure if this is the problem, but it appears to have all the symptoms for it. Also, I might need to replace the AC compessor, or just the ac compressor clutch-can you even do that?? All I know is whenever it's on, you hear a squeak and the car jumps, so I thought it's probably just ac compressor clutch. Anyway, like I said, I need to find someone capable of working on my SHO, to at least put in the camshaft position sensor. Thanks for your help!

The cam sensor is an easy DIY project. You might want to try it.

The AC compressor or clutch is do-able by an advanced DIYer.

If you can't find anybody closer to Detroit, I can refer you to my mechanic. He does a great job and won't rip you off, but I don't know how much it would cost for him to do it for you. The shop is located in Pontiac if you're interested. I'll be glad to give you his number so you guys can chat. He does allow customer supplied parts as well if you already have your part.

Project is right though, it's a great do it yourself job, although our weather as of late would make it a miserable job if you don't have a garage like me.

Bizzy, let me know who this mechanic is! I have had HORRIBLE luck trying to find a good, HONEST mechanic as of late. I have been totally ripped-off twice. OH WELL. As you know I dont live that far away from Pontiac, so that'll be cool. Thanx thumbs_u

Bizzy,

As I live in Pontiac, I would very much like to have your mechanics name and number. I need some work done as we speak, but have been very hesitant to take my car anywhere fir fear of being ripped off. I know cars, so I know when I am being ripped off, it is just that I do not have the time to do the work myself with my job and the holidays approaching. Again, I would greatly appreciate his name and number. Thanks.

I'm not sure if he's working this week or not, he usually takes the week of Christmas off from work, but I can find out from him tomorrow.

But let me affirm that he and Bob go above and beyond the call of duty and always have for me. I've never had any complaints about the quality of workmanship there or the prices for labor. Tell him Beth referred you.

Thanks Bizzy. I know exactly where that is. I buy a lot of my parts from Wide Track. I will have to stop in and check them out for service.
