oh makes sense, just too bad you have to lose that aggressive look of the 2.5'' cowl hood.

hey if you need some paint work on that thing you know where to come!

This is where I will be chronicling the build-up of my 1990 turbocharged track car. This is going to be a no-compromises Open Road Racing/Standing Mile Racing weapon.

After many years of experiencing the joys (and tribulations) of turbocharged SHO ownership, I grew tired of the issues that kept surfacing, most notably those having to do with the continual shredding of 3rd gear. But also the compromises one must make when building a high HP SHO that serves dual-purpose, that is, one that sees some track time but also serves as a daily driver. Packaging concerns, heavy clutch in traffic, excessive weight, etc. Those issues cease to be a concern when your purpose is first and foremost speed over comfort. With the HVAC/ABS/SRS/audio/power windows/moonroof systems removed, not only is the car a LOT lighter, but you now have lots of room to use however you see fit. Along with the benefits you experience in handling/acceleration/braking, less weight also means less stress on the unibody/brakes/wheels/tires and most important, the transaxle. Gone are the days of self-imposed 300ft lbs tq limits. Lose 500lbs of dead weight from your SHO, and not only does it get a lot faster, but parts last longer.

So, since this car make no concessions in the name of comfort, it can focus on one goal, to be the fastest/quickest SHO on the planet. And this goal will be reached. Let the SHOspeed Project begin!

Performance Targets
  1. WHP - 650
  2. TQ - 500
  3. Weight - 2700lbs wet
  4. 1/4 - high 10's @ 130+mph
  5. Standing Mile - 185mph
  6. Top Speed - 200mph

OK Tim, what I need you to do is get this up and running, so we can duplicate driveline it for the "SR 71 Black Bird".;)

This way we can have a white and black Gen 1's chasing each other.

But yeah, the goal with this car is to weigh as little as possible.

Sounds to me like you are going to want to concentrate SOME effort into creating sufficient downforce...bulls aren't suppossed to literally fly...just run really fast

Glad to see you finally got it home Tim! Keep the updates coming. If and when you bring this down to the Texas mile. I will be there.

Big day friday, I plan on fitting my knee/dash bar, trying on the CF hood, and doing some test fitting of the turbocharger and oil filter relocation kit. Lots of pics to follow.

What size tubing is the cage made from?
