Okay so I was making no progress on the car whatsoever, I decided to remove the intake and one of the valve covers (Would have done both had i had the patience to figure out the last two bolts) So anyways, I brought the intake in the house level, the next day I was told to put it in the garage, I was just going to carry it beside me so I hang it beside me and I hear all this crap in side it. Resting it on the throttle body I shook the intake for a minute, open the throttle and ching ching ching clunk. All these bits of metal and a BOLT fall out. The chunks of metal may be part of a piston, while other chunks look like a valve seat?

Is there any place where a bolt like this is used inside the engine?

Tomorrow Im going to try and remove the rear valve cover and all the plugs to see how they look.

I don't think that came from the inside of the upper end of the motor. It almost looks like someone dropped one of the bolts from something on top of the motor into the head. How long have you had the car and what is the extent of the damage, if you know?

If you can use the starter still, remove all the plugs, and keep the intake off; do a compression check on the cylinders. If the engine's locked, it's toast anyway.

I had one car come in with a grenaded engine; piston ring pieces were visible wedged in the intake valves / lower head runners, and piston pieces & other debris were in the intake. As for the bolt... I don't think that's lower end either (not with the slotted head end).

Best of luck, but I'm thinking "SHOBoom!".

Well I drove the car all the way to ontario and back, and I've been driving like 200kms a day for the last month 1/2, so I've had the car on the road since the end of may beginning of june or so. So i really don't think it could have been in there very long, cuz I mean there was no warning whatsoever.

I can't use the starter, I can't rotate the engine, period.

Anyways, off to remove the plugs.

Well, I didn't remove the other valve cover, I just looked down the intake to see if i could see anymore debris, which i did in #5. I took the intake cam off, and there is one broken intake valve. Before I even did that I removed the sparkplug, and Im pretty sure i ruined the threads in #5 because the spark plug was damaged.
