Alright, so what happend was.

Went to a friends on wed. night. I was leaving and went outside to start the car, It cranked really slowly and the tach a little seemed erratic and climbed up a bit. So I called my friend inside the house and asked him to come out and jump my car for me. We tried to jump it but then all the thing did was click. I tested the battery and its extremely healty. So I took another car to work and had my good friend who also owns a SHO (person who's house my car was stranded at) to help me out and pull the starter for me. He pulled it and tired to get it tested at pepboys but they said they couldnt test that kind of starter. So we figured what the ****, it must be the starter, so we bought a new one and he installed it for me.

I got home from work today and he came by to pick me up, We arrived at his house, and he told me to go ahead and start my baby, He had started it atleast 20 times prior to this.

It fired right up, but the starter was pretty fast and just didnt sound like my old stock starter. So I lauged and said it sounded like a honda starter, and shut it off to hear the starter again. CLICK, Nothing, tried numerous times and nothing. Now im ******. Mainly at the car.

What do you guys think, I just got a POS starter and thats that?

TIA!

it was acutally me starting it.. and it was done only 4 times... literally...

I am so confused though... its doing the SAME EXACT THING as it was before.. this is brand spanken new.... when i started it the first 4 times while you were at work, it sounded like a normal SHO starter... not a honduh.

well Zack has that air ratchet and it makes installing/uninstalling the starter so damn easy... just get another one and see whats up.

Make sure that all your connections are in place on the starter... main positive wire, ignition wire. Check your battery terminals and make sure they are clean and tight.

You should get a test light and make sure that you get good strong power from the battery(+) to the starter, and that you get ignition power (on the little wire) when you turn the ignition switch forward.

You can also test your starter without removing it from the vehicle. You need to tap the big (main power) terminal to the little (ignition) terminal. Just use a little piece of wire and literally "tap" it. You'll know right away if it works or not.

When I was installing my Y-Pipe I banged the Y-Pipe in to the starter on accident, the starter started FREAKING out and just kept turning the motor with the key not even in the car, Once it stopped doing that it wouldent start. I banged it with a rubber mallet relitivly hard and while it always started right up after that, It took a few seconds, My guess was that the ignition switch got stuck.

P.S. ....I wouldent suggest what I did :)

Alright, I got a new starter today and it got installed by my friend. We started the car and it fired right up, Now the only problem is it make a clicking sound with the engine running, a steady clicking sound like something is coming in contact with something else.

It gets faster with an increase in RPMs (like revving) and vanishes once its in drive/Reverse. But it will sometimes come back.

Anyone have any ideas? Cause im open for suggestions.

Thanks!

-has the battery cable ends been replaced by aftermkt ones??? if so you may have a short in the cable from the starter to the batt. the cables on a sho are just long enough to reach from the factory, when someone replaces those crimp ends on 94-95 they pull on the cable to make it reach, sometimes resulting in the cable getting against the drive belt, grounding out the starter. some times they crank, sometimes they dont. eventually killing the starter. i ve seen this about 3-4 time personally. just a suggestion though...
