Dead Deer

Hello everyone,

So...last night, I wound up driving over a dead deer on 476 N with my 1998 SHO. It sure as **** woke me up! The car drove the rest of my trip fine. When I got to my destination very early this morning, I noticed that the hood does not open and the alignment of my driver side headlamp is off...funny thing is that I drove over the dead deer on my passenger side. It felt like I just hit an inverted pothole.

Any recommendations as to how to even get the hood open again? or is this going to be an expensive trip to the auto-body shop? I still have a few issues that I need to get taken care of with the SHO....leaking power steering pump and low coolant after installing a new O ring on my oil cooler.

Warning: Once you get the hood open, it may not latch afterwards.

Have someone press down and hit the hood above the latch with a closed fist (not hard enough to punch a dent into it), while someone else it pulling the hood release from inside. It should eventually release.

Once it does, pull the front bumper cover off, and check that everything metal is still square. If it's not, you're likely totaled if you report it to your insurance.

If it is square, check for broken plastic and the like, replace or repair anything that's broken, and put the cover back on. Everything should line up afterwards.

Thanks for the advice. The body still looks the way it should. I would hate to have it totaled. The SHO is a monster. I will have to let her sit till I am done with by boards.
