I'm gonna say your battery was already on it's way bye-bye... Putting in the amp just helped along. Extra/more load.

Make sure you check the ground that goes from the battery to the frame(near the power steering pump reservoir.) Mine did not have a good ground there and I kept going through batteries. Wish you luck!!

If you battery goes dead you should recharge it with a charger. Jumping it and driving around for a couple of hours not only does not adequately recharge the battery but also put a very heavy strain on the alternator.

This is not what the alternator was designed to do. The alternator is meant to replace the electricity that is used when starting the car or minor loads when the car is off. Not to recharge dead batteries which may take a few hours to do the job correctly.

exactly what happened to mine. but make sure same gauge wire. or you will burn the new battery up faster than the old one.

If you get a dead battary, the battary is usaully shot if it wasnt a human mistake, having the battary go dead on you a few times is real ******* a battary and will not be the same, like living a battary on concret for a length of time...

I dont mean to change the subject, but...

The whole battery on concrete discharge thing is untrue. If it would be possible to suspend a battery in the air, it would still discharge over a period of time. Actually, putting a battery on a cold concrete floor will probably slow down the chemical reaction that naturally discharges a lead acid battery.

Again, I dont mean to change the topic, but myth busting is something I love to do.:salute:

yeah, its always been said. Truth is though that you can leave a car battery on a wood floor and it will still discharge over time.
