So, the week after I got my SHO this summer the alt. went out. Haven't had a single problem since, until lastnight. I was on my way home from the store talking about my car with my cousin and suddenly it started doing the same things it did when the alt. went out last time. the ABS light came on, the lights got real dim, my tach stopped working, tranny started shifting funny.... oh boy. Figures, I was telling him about how the only problem I've ever had with it was the dead alt..... ironic.

Anyways, it's been only 4-5 months since I had the alt. replaced. Seems to me it should last a little longer... Anybody know what might be causing this? Is there something else besides the alt. that could cause this? I already replaced the battery, and it died again. Could one of my drive belts be too big? Anybody have similar problems?

Hopefully you guys can help me out...

No it just seems as if the rebuilds are 90% junk. Try to get new and always keep the biggest pulley.

and, it's such a PITA to replace yourself.
it can be done by a novice like me, but my hands paid the price due to the tight spaces.

I had to replace my 5 times in one week trying to figure out what was wrong. It ended up being wires that run over top of the tranny got rubbed through.

I too have had my share of bad rebuilds. Last about the same as what you are describing. Start with the wire chasing make sure its all plugged in, or take it to Auto Zone or your favorite shop, and let them plug into it to see if it is a bad one.
