Could it be possible to de-pressurize the fuel system by shutting off the fuel pump via the switch? Or do I have to go through the schrader valve?

Schraeder valve is super easy. Stick some clear tubing over the valve then stick a pin through and press down on the valve core. Have your clear tubing going into a cup.

When I changed my fuel filter I spent a couple minutes trying to figure out how i could shut off the fuel pump... nothing came to mind at the time, so I just pulled it off and had a jar ready... it wasn't too bad.

After relieving the pressure from the Schrader valve, you must also open the gas cap to vent the fuel tank. Without that action, you may wonder why the fuel just keeps coming out of the lines.

Just trip the inertia switch in the trunk, it's much easier and does the same thing-stops the pump from getting power. Look in the trunk driver side behind the upholstery. There's probably an access hole built in. Wrap the side with a screwdriver to trip the switch. To reset, stick your finger in and push the button back down. wink
