Dash Removal

He guys tomarrow Im going to try and take a dash out of a Gen3 because mine is really warped. I believe I can figure everything out, except the passanger side airbag. Does the dash come out around it. Or does the airbag have to come out? If so how does the airbag come out besides crashing of course?

The airbag stays in the dash and the steering collumn stays attached as well. Super easy to do.First remove the console if equiped. take the trim off the a pillars, then the sill trim, then the side covers off the dash. Take the trim off that covers the defrost vents remove 3 8mill bolts from the top of the dash, unhook the steering shaft and remove 2 13mill bolts on either side of the dash. The dash should all but fall out, takes .5 hour tops.

Gotta also unhook a few connectors at the drivers side footwell, E brake cable, and 2 EATC lines on passenger side. Just did a heater core a couple days ago. That job was simple as ****. You'll be blown away at how easy it is. Good luck...

As mentioned above, the airbag just stays attached to the dash. If you need to swap it to the replacement dash, it will be quite easy with both dashes out of the car.

The first time I removed a V8 dash it took about an hour to get out, and about the same to re-install.

Now that I know where everything is that needs to be disconnected/removed/unbolted, I can have it out in about 35-40 mins, and about 45-50 going back together.

TIP: Get some moving blankets to put on the ground to place the 'good' dash on, and take the extra 2 minutes and REMOVE THE SHIFTER all together. The first dash I did, the glove box door got scraped on the edge of the shifter going back in, and on the second one it was a close call. Now I just pull the shifter.
