Hey, I'm about to start a Dallas SHO Club. I have not yet decided on a name, but I am taking suggestions and information from anyone and everyone who wants to participate and be a part of the club.

MEMBERSHIP IS FREE - We will only charge for events (whatever the cost is for the event), otherwise I want everyone to be able to participate. And it won't cost anything for cook-outs and things like that. Maybe a little help bringing food and drinks.
smile.gif

We will have monthly meetings where we simply get together, talk, eat out, and discuss events going on in the future.

We will have an "outing" quarterly. (once every 3 - 4 months, possibly 5 months) Where we will plan a weekend for us all to get together and do things like cook-out/dyno day, get together for particular races, go to speed zone for fun...whatever we see fit.

This club is for fun and to bring together the other wise individuals who have so chosen to get such a fine respectible car as a Taurus SHO, so that we may come up with ideas, get new idea, use old ideas, continue modding, continue smoking other vehicles, continue racing and having fun, and continue getting good prices on parts and labor and service in the area.

I have many contacts and many events already lined up, it's just a matter of getting everyone together now.

Here are the names I have though of so far:
1 - Dallas SHO Club
2 - SHO Club of Dallas
3 - SHO'Nuf (just kidding)
4 - DFW SHO Club
5 - SHO Club DFW

Please add to the list or pick which one you like best. When we find one we all like, I'll purchase a Domain Name and build a site for us and we'll have our first official meet and start going to some events on a regular basis. I autocross once to twice a month 9 months out of the year, and I plan on getting some SHOs together now since I just bought my first one.

I'm also affiliated with the Rx7 Club of Dallas, North Texas Prelude Owners Group, and many shops around the area at which I can get good deals, group rates and discounts.

Thanks so much for your input, ideas and any help that can be offered.

Regards,
Brian Carman

We had a Metroplex SHO club once, but it just morphed into the LSSHOC. Even the out of town folks like to get together with us whenever they can. And we with them.

No offense, but that's not good enough for me.

If I'm in a club, I like it to be a well organized club that meets on a regular basis and has lots of events to go to...otherwise, there's no reason to be in a club at all!

Therefore, I'm gonna' make sure I start a good club with very attentive participating members that love their cars and love racing them. I'll get as many people as I can...in fact, I'll literally chase people down with SHOs in the DFW area and make them join. LOL I've been in too many organized clubs where we did a lot of things and had a lot of fun NOT to organize my own club for my new vehicle when it's such a fun car!
smile.gif

It's no fun having a fast car if you don't have a club to be in and have fun with that car and with other people that have the same car. Plus, there's too much good information and "stuff" to be had by a club as opposed to not having a club at all.

So...I'm gonna' go ahead and setup everything for the Dallas SHO club (or DFW) to make sure we have a good active group that has fun. And we won't break up or be acquired into another club or anything either. We can be part of the LSSHOC, but we'll still be our own club though. And LSSHOC can come join us at any events or what not. Plus, we'll be hooked up with a lot of the clubs here in the area as well, so we'll have a high turn out at club events.

I know the BMW Club Owners, one of my best friends is the North Texas Prelude Owners Group president, one of my friend is the head of the DFW Rx7 group. So we have plenty of other car groups to get together with and race and have fun and share info and what not with. It should be fun and beneficial.

I know there are a few of us here in the Metroplex that would join. Frankly, I'm tired of driving to Houston to do all the meets and such. The LSSHOC really only meets about 3 times a year, but when we do it's a total blast!

We had a Dallas gathering in February of 2001 that turned out fantastic. I believe we had 11 or so SHO's attend a 'meeting' in Addison. Anyway, keep us posted.

Oh don't worry, I'll keep everyone posted, and I'll let everyone know when the site goes up so everyone can register and we can start building pages to put up for member profiles and pics of cars, ect ect. We'll hopefully have a pretty nice site. I have yet to design the site, but that's because I'm a fairly busy person right now.

I'm either working at my night job, fixing the things on my car that need to be fixed since I just got it, writing my book, messaging people here, keeping in touch with friends and helping them out, spending time with my woman...hehehe...and anything else that presents itself in the meantime. So I have a lot on my plate right now.

BUT...that's okay. I have done pretty well so far figuring out how to find time to do the things I need to get done, and I'm about to change to a day job soon hopefully, and at that point, I will be making more money and have more time to do things.

If all goes well, I'll be working for Microsoft soon making more than twice as much money and then I'll have tons of money to fix my car up with and then we're talkin' about load of fun!
smile.gif
And I'll definately throw some money toward the group to help out with events or whatever we need money for to get this little "shin dig" started.
smile.gif

Oh, and any help along the way would be greatly appreciated! If anyone has anything to offer, either in the way of skills, services or what not. Let me know, and I'll see if I can find good use for what you have to offer. Any help is welcomed. That's what this should all be about anyway is teamwork. If we're gonna' make an impact on the racing world, and make an even better name for the car we all own...we are gonna' have to be unique with how we do things, and how we go about what we do...and do everything WELL, and with style.
smile.gif

By the way, I have a hookup down in Dallas that does engines. The guy ROCKS! He is one of the "bada$$es" of the racing world in the way of mechanics, porting, engine building and whatever else. He built the three engines for the three Dodge cars that were introduced at the Daytona 500 last year that took first second and third place too, I believe. He has a little '89 Civic Si with a 1.5L SOHC engine in it with a blower and puts out 487HP at the wheels, pulls 11.02 in the quartermile with no traction on street tires, and gets 29 mpg!! It's his daily driver! He's been driving it for quite a while now with no problems at all. Now tell me that's not a guy that knows what the **** he's doing! hehehe

Anyway, if anyone wants one of the best port & polish jobs you could possibly pay for, he's the man. If anyone needs heads done, he's the man. If anyone needs engines built, he's the man. The guy just rocks. So, let me know and I'll hook anyone up if they have the money and need a **** of an engine built or whatever.

From what I hear, prices can range from $500 - $2000+ for port & polish and complete head rebuild and reworks. Then if you want just a completely insane engine built, you could pay up to $6000+. Which in my opinion is not at all bad! That's down right amazing for what you get. He'll match the metals up for what has the lowest friction rating, and he'll build it for strength and durability...and to take punishment...or take tons of boost. So, just let me know and I'll get it in the works. Be sure you have pleanty of time for him to work on it, because he's always loaded down with work, so it takes him a while sometimes to get to engines. Just depends. Eitherway, let me know.

I plan on taking an engine from a junkyard that's either running or blown and giving it to him to have him get as many parts as possible for it and port the **** out of it. Then I'm going to build the engine myself and drop it in. It'll have roughly a 1.75 rod/stroke ratio (straight horse power), and will rap out anywhere from 7-10 grand. And it will be full prepared and ready for a fat turbo or two.
smile.gif
I haven't decided if I want one or two turbos yet...and I haven't decided if I want a blower or turbo yet either. I'm leaning more toward a turbo, though, because I love turbos. Half the fun of a turbo is the sounds, and you can't get that from a blower. hehehe

Anyway, I will be starting the club as soon as I possibly can and will be getting people to sign up very soon. Also, I need to make a few announcements, so watch for some more Topics by me about some events that will be taking place fairly soon starting in March. Later guys!

Well, I guess I live too far away to be a part of this, but it would be worth the drive for me anyways. I would be interested, but I already have my own engine guy, thanks.

can I come to an event or two if I promise to behave myself? I know I'm not a Dallas person, but I could fit in probably.

All of you guys are welcome to join the club if you like. I don't mind if some members are a little ways off, that's fine with me. I want everyone to be able to participate and have fun. We will be having events often. At least once a month I'm for sure, because I race at an autocross at least once a month in Mineral Wells. In fact, the person that's in Midland wouldn't have as long of a drive from Midland to Weatherford where the Auto-X we have is at. So, just get ahold of me via email and I'll tell you how to get there if you wanna' go.

I'm might start takin' names for the Club right now, but I'm probably going to wait till I get the webpage up so everyone can formally register on the site and I can keep track of everyone. If not, that means I'm not going to have a registration on the site, I'll just keep a list of everyone.

Eitherway, anyone is welcome to join as long as you're either in Texas...or within a decent distance so that you will be able to participate in a few of our events throughout the year. That's what this club is all about anyway is going to events and having fun with our cars. So if people join that aren't going to participate, there's no reason for them to join. So that's the only reason I put a stipulation on distance.

Otherwise, anyone's welcome to join that's within' a reasonable distance. Bring it on guys! And I'm really encouraging everyone to come to the MAS 2002 (Middle America Showdown) at the Hallett race circut track! It's a sweet road race in OK that's not far away and will be LOADS of fun. Hope you guys can make it. I want a nice onterauge (sp?) of SHOs out there to wipe the floor with the Probes and Bimmers and Preludes and Rx7s. I think some of the Rx7s and Bimmers may give us some trouble...but I think we've got most of the Preludes and Probes that come out. hehehe We're SHOs damnit and we're good! lol So let's get out there and SHO them what it's all about!

Awesome! Whoever else wants to join, just let me know. I'm going to create a new topic later for joining, and I'll get everyone to post in there with their information if they want to join, then I'll add everyone to the list that way. Will that work guys?

Everyone start throwing out names or voting on the names I've already come up with and we'll get a name decided on. Later guys.

Bro the only way you're going to get enough interest is to join the Topica list under the LSSHOC name and post your ideas there. You'll get 'maybe' 4 guys from this Forum. I don't want to rain on your parade, but this has been tried many times in the past and failed, not from a lack of interest, but mainly because people remained uninformed. Good luck.

Trust me, I'm not your average club member or colaborator.
smile.gif
I will go to great lengths to get people into the club and keep it up and running. I pretty much don't care what it takes, I'll get people informed and interested and keep people wanting to come back to the events and get-togethers.

I literally will chase down any and every Taurus SHO I see in the DFW Metroplex, even if it makes me late to work, I'll freakin' chase them down and give them the info to join the club and hold them at gun point till they say join. Well....okay, maybe not at gun point, but you get the idea.
smile.gif

Really, this will work, I know. I know way too many guys that are into cars that know people with SHOs...or that I know with SHOs that will join the group and come out to events with us and everything. I'm not worried about not having enough people. I know I can get the people. It's just a matter of how quickly I can get everything setup and how quickly I can GET all the members...that's all.

But thanks so much for telling me about the LSSHOC Topica Site that I need to get on to get people to sign up...that's cool. I've already got two or three members for the club that aren't even in the DFW area from this list, so that's cool.

Thanks man. Later!
