Last month I lost my step-father after a lengthy accident-induced progressive loss of memory. Difficult thing to watch, for someone that put a roof over my head and raised me like his own, even though he wasn't my biological father.
Anyway, he was a die-hard Bears fan, from his early days in Chicago with the CE&I railroad. Buried along with his cremated remains, was his Gale Sayers jersey, that he so often wore on game day. Many years ago I gave him a framed picture of the Bears at home on the field, that hung over his bed until his death.
When I return home, I will be given that same framed picture, that I will proudly display in my office, even though I've been devout Rams fan since the 1970s, because no matter where he's at now, I know he will be cheering-on his Bears.
Here's to hoping they win it all this year, just for him.
Go Bears !!!
