last time I removed and replaced my Axles in the SHO I punctured one of my CV-joint boots (inner). So after quite a fiasco I got the correct boot, but when removing the old boot (cut it off) I cut through the gasket ring that the seales the boot the the CV coupler. I tried to find a replacement but the Boot doesn't come with the ring and the ring is listed as part of the alxe assembly. I would hate to replace a good axle beacuse the sealing ring is bad (it throws greese). Any ideas where I can get a new one?

BTW I tried to RTV the old one. It didn't work.

If the joint is "throwing" grease, just replace the axle. At last check, $65 from NAPA. Trust me, if it's throwin grease, it won't be good for long. ;)

I'm with Rob on this one. If a boot has opened up replace the axel.

I have always been a fan of fixing things rather than replacing parts. However, the price of axels has come down significantly, and it is not worth the time and effort to replace a boot. The chances of moisture or grit having gotten into the joint is significant enough that replacing the axel is the better choice.
