Ive read some of the older posts on rubbing noises occuring after either cutting moog coils or adding lowering springs.
I cut 1.5 coils of of my new Moog CC858 front coils. And now I am getting a rubbing sound from the strut towers where it seems the upper rubber coil mount is rubbing either against the strut tower or maybe the upper strut mount. Does anyone know what pieces are rubbing together.....strut tower and coil rubber mount or coil rubber mount and upper strut mount?
The rubbing occurs when turning, even if the car is stationary. the passengers side rubs more than the drivers.
The coil mounts and the bearing and the upper strut mount are used but seemed to be in good condition (non original) when I took them out. I'm using new garbiel Ultra struts......and this is on a 93 vulcan SLO.
Im wondering if a certain brand of upper coil mounts and upper strut mount/bearing are better suited (stiffer?) for using with a lowering spring or am I just screwed?
