The cruise on my 92 ain't working all that great.....actually, it doesn't work at all. when I have the cable hooked up (which I normally don't), it drops speed slowly until I tap the gas pedal and it runs back up to speed again, before bleeding off again. Another interesting thing is that when I idle with the cable hooked up, it idles around 3400rpms.....I have to floor the gas momentarily and it drops back down....until the next time I come to an idle. Do I need a new cruise unit or what?

Does the cable move freely throughout it's travel? Sounds like it might be getting stuck/hung up on a sticky part or something?

newp....in fact, when I hook it up, I've gotta pull on it pretty hard to get it to release from whatever it's snagged on inside the cruise thingy.

Same thought I had.

In addition, it sounds like maybe a vacuum leak could be causing the cruise to "fade" as you describe and might even be contributing to the high idle when the cruise is engaged. Have you checked all the hoses?

Yup. Had the intake off two weeks ago because of a gold-mine find (6 brand new Motorcraft spark plug wires at the boneyard $.59 apiece). All the vaccuum lines are hooked up gutentight. The high idle is caused by the cruise cable holding the throttle open.

:dig: Actually, I just took the wires...brand new Motorcraft ones...never fired.....$0.59 each. I didn't take the intake though.

I did, however, rape the 'puter and DIS module off the black 93......
