Cranks, but won't start. And I'm getting a big-time buzzing from CCRM. The fuel pump does get in, but for five days it won't start, then suddenly it starts. It's running fine, but the instant I drop the hood - bam it cuts out! And won't start again. I'm thinking loose connection somewhere, but all seems secure, although one green/black wire simply is hanging there with nowhere to go. So now, I'm thinking loose connection IN the CCRM and replacing it. Your thoughts please.

given your description, the ccrm is a good place to start. you can probe the correct wires to confirm before you spend money on a different one. and make sure you get one with the same letter code on it, i.e. "J" or "M" etc.

Dumb question, but since I'm having a similar problem, I'll ask - what is a CCRM? I couldn't find an eec code for it.

No such thing as a dumb question. The Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM) interfaces with the Power Control Module (PCM) to provide control of the cooling fan, A/C Clutch and fuel pump. The module also includes the electronic engine control (EEC) relay to power the PCM. It is sometimes called the Fuel Pump Relay, but that name only is part of its function. Problem is if any one of the relays goes bad, you must replace the whole unit. Usually Part #: F1DF-12B577-AA

Thanks - I couldn't find CCRM in any of the acronym defintitions and I don't see it as a diagnostic code.

I dont' want to highjack this thread, but one more question - could a bad relay in the CCRM cause either Codes 157 and/or 211 - Mass Air Sensor low voltage and PiP circuit fault ? Those are the only codes I'm getting after having the car start and run after sitting for a long time. After a few minutes of running it just died and won't restart. It cranks fine, tach reads about 500 rpm during crank, but just no cough even.

a pip circuit fault (211) is either a bad crank sensor or bad wiring to it. that will result in a no-start condition.

Most likely wiring - the car has been sitting for a couple of months and I found acorns in the air cleaner box.

OK, now where is the PiP located so I can check the wiring?

Also, is there a shop manual online someplace so I can stop bothering you guys with these type questions?

PIP means 'profile ignition pickup' - in other words the crank orientation sensor. It is located on the front of the engine (right side of car) behind the crank damper pulley and timing belt sprocket.

See if shophoenixproject.com is alive - they have a very good how-to on most maintenance on that site.
