Crank sensor

Just a quick question is it worth getting a crank sensor with a lifetime, for the extra $40? The options are 96.99 at oreilly's or 56.99 at advance auto parts. I will be replacing this when I do the water pump.

Basically you'd be buying 1.75 sensors for a lifetime replacement? I wouldn't.

I wouldn't do it. At AutoZone, you get the crank position sensor for $36.99, with a 2-year warranty. Me, if I needed to tear into that part of the engine (crank pulley, timing belt covers, etc.) for maintenance, I'd throw a new crank sensor in there, regardless of the condition of the old one, because it is a PITA to get in there. Typically, they should last for quite a while, unless a leaking w/p, front main, vanes hitting the sensor etc. shorten it's life span. So why spend more on that part?
