Well it finally happed...I spun a rod bearing, i have it apart, and my question is how smooth does the crank have to be, I didn't drive far after I knew there was a problem, the bearing itself slipped about halfway around, it but some scratches in the rod end and cap...but the crank didnt look so bad. cleaned it with scrotch brite pad and 2000 grit paper, you can feel small ridges with your finger nail...so what are my chances, 50/50, no hope, any info would help. thank in advance.

I wouldn't reuse the crank... If you do, you'll likely be in there again very soon.

You not only have to worry about the surfact, but the shape of the journal now (have you mic'd it?).

If you can feel scratches in the crank, it is time for a new one. Time for an engine swap....
