Crank Bolt

[Yamaha V6]

Went to the dealer, and found that a new crank bolt is like $8 with my discount. Of course, I bought 2.

I didn't need one right now, but I was ordering a bunch o' parts, so I figured what the heck, I'd see if it was still available.

Nope. Nada from Da Foddah. I have the one spare one now from the green 95's engine. It was likely one of the only parts salvageable from the short block - damper, tensioners, crank bolt, etc.; the covers were broken, either before disassembly or during - not sure. Both the 91's & the 95's trans mounts were ripped, so Jezzie's went into the green 95, and I ordered 2 more today - one for the 91, & one for the shelf.

Good score their Fred. I have heard through the grapevine that the crank bolt is a discontinued Ford part. Not sure if there is an aftermarket for them.

...and you would be correct, Jason - they ARE d/c'd. I pulled a locator service on it, and there are some around. A total of 18 of them within 250 miles of me. I'll probably pick up 4 from one dealer (effectively cleaning out his stock) & throw them on the shelf anyway.

Crank gears & timing vane assemblies are also D/C'd per a phone call I had with my local parts guy this morning.
