Cracked MTX tranny.... WTF????

Finally got around to changing the clutch in the '89.

Upon inspecting the tranny, I spotted this..

There is a crack in the bell housing at 9 o'clock (center of top picture). In addition to the left of it the guy put what looks like JB weld and aluminum foil to cover up a defect.

WTF??? Any ideas how it got like this???

Diff pin. That is all.

Really? I dont think is that, the cracks are on the clutch side, outside from the gearbox. The diff is on the other side no ?

Look again, that's where the diff is. If it doesn't leak, don't worry about it.

Edit: Nevermind, wrong car. Anyhow, it's just a repaired tranny from a blown differential.
