Here is the deal.

The car runs great when it is started. It has started recently to give me problems getting started. soemtimes it starts fine. Sometimes it is a bear. It turns over fine, sometimes even sounding like it is starting fine, and then it either dies right away, or dies with some backfiring. I notice it happens worse when the car is warm then when I get in first thing in the morning. I have also noticed a problem with the tach. sometimes it goes and works fine...typically when I am having the hard start problem, the tach just does nto work at all, only to bounce to life after being driven a little.

I have no clue. I thought CPS, but then figured it either works or does not work....I cant immagine it working sometimes and not others??? right?? I also thought about a TPS someeone said maybe....but I dont know anythign abotu that. At first I thought the park/nutral switch as it seemed that moving the shifter into N helped, but now I am not sure that made a difference at all either....so I just dont know.

and help would be apreciated.
thanks.

The switches in the car can be very ugly to figure out, just because sometimes they might work, sometimes not.

The Crank Position Sensor can be VERY sporadic, meaning you never know when it is or isn't working. Once it's bad anyways.

Check www.shophoenixproject.com or www.shotimes.com for info on how to check the engine computer codes. They will help diagnose where the problem is.

Good luck!

Exactly what Steve said, Cam Position Sensor. Should be a code 214 stored in the computer.
