My car is overheating per my other thread. Part of that is caused by a failed fan on the radiator. OEM part is like $400! Mechanic is trying to just replace the motor, but having trouble finding one. First motor came with a 14" fan, but stock is like 16". Another potential motor is like $120 and needs shipped.

Any alternatives for this motor/fan? Like an old Sable part? Re-wiring?

Thanks, but I'm trying to get it in the next day or so. The car is setting in a shop and I'm in a rental!

I had a similar problem on mine, themotor had a meltdown and melted part of the shroud assembly. Anyway, the whole thing was worthless. I got a used SLO fan and was able to make it work with a bit of modification. The shroud was wider than my factory shroud, so I cut it down a bit with a hacksaw and it fit ok. I then took the three power wires and put the slip on quick-connect electrical ends on them (no sure what the technical term is) and slipped them onto the metal tabs on the SLO fan assembly. Its a bit tighter fit than the oem fan but it works and cools fine. This was on my MTX.....if you have an ATX it might fit different.
