is the coolent senser on the hose between the heater core and the motor important because im in the middle of changing all the hoses and would like to replace all the old stuff with braded hose and i dont trust the old metal water hose due to the tack welds breaking and causing leaks as iv gone through before

That particular sensor is used for the climate control. If set on 'auto' it measures the coolant temp and holds the fan off for the heater untill the coolant is up to temp.....

You can cut the metal clamps that connect the metal and the hose on those pieces and then just reattach fresh rubber to the metal portion with a regular hose clamp. While you have the metal part off it is also a good time to strip it and paint it to prevent it rusting up.

the rust part was the problem on the other metal hose so it made me tare my whole car apart and change all my vacum and coolent hoses to braded ones.
