I have this problem too and I don't want to repair it another time. I made some researches and you can find hoses that can manage more heat than stock ones. They are red but forgot where I found these stuff (Amazon ?). I put them with a brass tee like the one of Qshiplvr. In my case the tee stills good (for how much time....?) but the hoses gives up as they were stuck on the heads.

My two cents, as you live in south Texas...

Coolant has been fine since the problem has been fixed. I'm just waiting for the weather to cool down so I can change my a/c compressor. The a/c works, but, if I hit the accelerator hard, the a/c will stop blowing cold air.

If you hit the accelerator hard it is supposed to disengage the ac clutch from the compressor. That is by design.

He's already been told how to fix it with the shim but doesn't want to do it.

Trying to get people to work on vehicles, down here, isn't easy. The Harlingen/San Benito area isn't your normal area. Look at all of the illegals that have been busted.

Only "illegals" work on cars? That was a pretty stupid statement. And I already told you I know someone in McAllen who could do it. But he is hispanic so you'd probably not be a good candidate.

In my case the T was still good too. But we cannot emphasize strongly enough that re-installing a plastic T down there in between the heads is just plain stupid. (I get that you're not doing so). Based on how brittle all of the plastic bits on my '97 have gotten I have found it relevant to replace any bits that I can as I work past or around them. (As well as being super careful with little release tabs and the suchlike)
