Coolant Acidity?

Not a SHO specific question-

Pulled a block heater and found it looking pitted pretty badly. It was shorted and tripping GFI. Was just trying to do a failure analysis and figure out why it failed.

Anyone with experience think this is normal wear and tear or does this look like coolant corrosion?
