I think $5500 is too much for the miles. That could be just me though. I bought my 97' in June with 37,500 on the clock for $7000. I had it welded immediately and took it home. I had to go to Michigan to find the car I wanted since gen III's aren't that common around here. I love my car and I'm really glad I bought it. That said, I just got my car back from Ford. A new transmission is going to run you around $3000. I had mine for less than 6 months before I had to drop more cash. Just keep that in mind if you decide to buy it.

Even if you have to drive a good distance to get the cams welded you need to have it done. There are no replacement motors in the Ford pipeline that I am aware of and no insurance or warranty company will pay to replace a motor that's more expensive than the value of the car anyway.

I have owned a 95 Mtx since new. The tranny works fine but I have installed 2 clutches. However my son did use it a bit and we all know how kids are on clutches. The stock tranny has close to 216000 miles on it. Ocassionally I have to shift it into first after it sits a while to avoid grinding going into reverse.
My 98 SHO is very enjoyable but it is not a quick car. Fast yes, Quick No. With that said I am very happy with it. The Lightning is my fix when I start withdrawing from that screaming, shredding tire desire.
FPS Cam Weld for piece of mind.
FPS SCT II 93 Octane Program
this makes the cars so much more enjoyable. Shifts are firmer and quicker.
The resonator removed and Magnaflows make a sweet sound. I would recommend adding stiffer swaybars as stuffing it into corners at higher speeds makes me a be nervous.
The great buys on these cars make owning them almost too easy. If you want power there is a blown 93 on ebay right now. If I had my choice when I spent my money I know which one I would go after....

Its not really relevant but the grinding in reverse is normal. I was told theres no syncromesh on reverse and your supposed to put it in 1st gear before putting it in reverse. I was also told there was a tag on teh shifter from the factory new stating that. If im wrong i know someone will correct me  but thats normal so no need to fear about the 200k tranny. She sound perfectly healthy to me ;)

Ive owned 2 gen 2's and currently have a gen1. I can honestly say i prefer the gen1 interior now even with it being an 89 because theres no squeaks or rattles. both my 93's interiors rattled like crazy and they were better taken care of than my 89 was. Im inclined to buy a gen3 in the future because everyone raves about how solid they are. Id get it if its your daily driver. These cars are so cheap you just need to buy a gen1 to modify and make the toy out of and get a gen3 to drive everyday :p Thats what im doing :thumb:
