I had an air leak coming from around the shift console on my 95 ATX, I removed the console and it is coming from a small black thing on the passenger side on the shift console. It has 2 black lines, like air lines, coming to it. When I squeeze it the air leak almost stops.

I can take it off by removing 2 small screws, it is attached by a post also so when you move the shift lever it moves something via a small lever. With it taken off the orange indicator still moves, so I am not sure what this is to even try and find a new one.

Anyone know what it is? I am not even sure what to search for.

Thanks for your help

It is for the automatic e-brake release. When you put the car in drive it should release the e-brake if it is working corretly. Neat little option IMO.

It's a vacuum operated switch that is activated when the shifter is placed into "D" to release the parking brake. You can temporarily plug the supply line with a golf tee or equivalent. You may be able to find one at a salvage yard as I believe the LX Tauri were also equipped.

Thats actually good news, I knew I had that feature but it has never worked on this car so no big deal.

Thanks again
