I went out and picked up an oil pressure guage today (decent one at Pep Boys), and I'm not quite sure how to remove the current idiot light sender. It is that thing about an 1" in diameter on the back of the oil pan, passenger side, about 4" from the bottom of the pan, right? I'm not concerned with any T-connectors or anything. Thanks!

Pat,
It is on the side closest to the front of the car. Just unscrew the bolt. (The wire just snaps on to the bolt). "Some" oil will leak out.
Seeing how we both have similar "noises", I thought I would share with you what I have learned, FWIW. First, I thought I may have either worn bearings or clogged oil passages. So I installed an oil pressure guage. It read pretty much normal readings.
I am curious if you have the same results.
If your oil usage is like mine...occasionally having to add a quart  ...try adding a quart (or just half a quart) of 20w50... or even Lucas oil stabalizer. It will definitely help quieten things down.
I am going to order some Auto RX. Paul Nimz really endorses this, and he seems very knowledgeable.
Of course, I still haven't inspected my timing chain tensioners... which are a probable suspect. But I certainly am NO mechanic.
Oh yeah, if I am WAY off here, with your objective, I apologize.
No matter, Good Luck!

You are looking at the oil LEVEL sensor. The pressure sender is up on the block, on the firewall side, towards the driver.

Thanks, and I'll check it out tomorrow!

David, you're right on. I'm trying to solve my ticking, and see if it is a bearing. If it is, well, the damage has probably been done, and I'm scared as to what else may be wrong with the motor. This SHO may be on the way out :( I have, however, been looking for a nice black, silver, or blue Gen 2! I'm going through some tough times with the SHO, however.

srfrdude's right! I always lose my orientation when trying to describe things from looking up into the engine bay while lying on my back.
I got my $ on its NOT a bearing. (but, honestly, what do I know?) My obvious top end noise seemingly comes from the bottom if I bend down and listen.
Oh, a midnight blue (darker blue) Gen.2 is one of the prettiest colors of the sho, IMO thumbs_u
