coil problem????

alright, my 94 ATX has been acting up. seems to be missing at idle. raw gas smell in exhaust. cyl balance test only seems to be testing 5 cylinders. indicates problem with #1. pulled the wires on the coil and all of them had a good healthy spark except #1. #1 barely jumped spark had to get the probe all the way down, very faint spark. also idle didnt change when it was removed. car seems to run ok at higher rpms. plug is fuel fouled. plug wires are new and checked at 8.4K ohms for #1. Why would #5 Fire good but #1 be so weak?????????????????? DIS was checked 4 times. good.

also the car has a bad vibration in the front end. only in OD between 40-50mph. let off the gas it goes away, switch OD off it goes away. tranny shudder?? checked tierod ends and lower ball joint. ok. feels like a wheel coming off.....ask me how i know.

bad coil pack

test the resistance at the coil pack itself with a multimeter. Also - i would check for play and looseness in your cv joints.

Problem solved!!!!

swapped the coil pack out today and tada! idle is as smooth as a baby's butt. havent noticed the vibration either, might have been from the miss at low rpms in OD. so a coilpack can drop only 1 cylinder.
