codes wont clear

i keep getting 1 1 1 and that means system ok but it wont clear help. i tryed to do the procedure to clear but it wont work.

Are you trying to clear the 111 code? If so, stop trying.

but the c/e light keeps comming on and thats the only code that somes up

If you are running the KOEO test with a 1991 SHO and there are no codes set, you should be seeing the following sequence (you are looking for 2-digit codes, not 111):

flicker - fast codes, disregard

Hard Faults - found during test
flash - 1 in the 10s digit
2 second pause
flash - 1 in the 1s digit (that makes an 11)
4 second pause, will repeat the hard faults
flash - 1 in the 10s digit
2 second pause
flash - 1 in the 1s digit (that makes another 11)

6 second pause
flash - separator pulse
6 second pause

Memory codes - stored if CE light has illuminated
flash - 1 in the 10s digit
2 second pause
flash - 1 in the 1s digit (that makes an 11)
4 second pause, will repeat the memory codes
flash - 1 in the 10s digit
2 second pause
flash - 1 in the 1s digit (that makes another 11)

First, verify that you are properly interpreting the CEL sequences by following Scott's instructions.

Secondly, it is possible to have a CEL with no codes set when you try to read them.
