Battery indicator light on panel came on. Battery ok. Alternator is putting out 18.5 volts. Had to drive 40 round trip miles to get new alternator, battery is hot as an oven. Battery vented acid into engine compartment.

Installed new alternator. Output is 14.5 volts. Check battery under load. Battery is ok. Very difficult starting, won't turn over, rough start. Runs for a while, then stalls. Ran KOEO test. Codes 11, 11 then 19 & 95. Codes 11, 11 means sensors ok? Right?? So codes 19 & 95 are in memory...right?

Code 19 indicates PCM is gone, code 95 indicates fuel pump problems, but ran fuel pump self test and fuel pump ok. But car should run ok because codes 11, 11 indicate that sensors are ok. I'm confused???

So, did high voltage output of 18.5 volts fry PCM? Also, ran KOEO many times, kept getting different codes each time until last three times got codes 19 & 95 consistantly. Also, finally tach has been running erradically, now no tach.

Please advise

I have a list of codes that also states other causes of Code 19. It stated problem with PCM, so I stopped there. If I kept on reading it also states problem with cam sensor.

Per your advice, wiped memory clean, test returned 11, all ok. I checked the cam sensor and it looked OK. But I unplugged it than plugged it back in.

Car started fine! Go figure!!

Fuel pump OK; alternator ouptut OK battery OK.

Runs nice and S-M-O-O-T-H just like it is supposed to. Idle is much better with a slight dip below set idle speed then back up to normal idle. So I need to check idle air bypass valve, etc. But it is MUCH better and the idle "dip" is noticeable because I am concentrating on it.

I intend to purchase cam sensor anyway. Man, if just ONE thing goes wrong with this car, it really screws up how it performs.

Do other FORD EFI engines, Mustang etc., have so many sensors to keep the car running in top condition or is the SHO engine more heavily monitored?

Thanks for your help. :hail:

I could have been chasing this for a third day on Sunday.

You 'da man!! :salute:

Clean out the idle air bypass sensor/valve. Ford electronic systems are pretty much the same across platforms in similar year models as far as sensors go.
