I read that you can get engine codes by using a paper clip in the terminals of the computer. Is this true, is it safe and is it accurate. I would hate to blow a brand new computer module.

Any input?

Its all true. But you use jumper the test port not the computer itself. Follow the link in my sig about ECC codes.

Paper clip code retreival

Hi

I found the two connectors per the picture, a grey single wire and a black multiple wire. There are no red dots on either. If you look at the larger connector there are four places to connect. The bottom is flat and the top is shaped like a house roof. From left to right, which connection should have the red dot?

Also I found a flat wire ground from the fire wall not hooked up. Any ideal where that may go?

Thanks for your help.

looking at the connector its the top right plug in. Thats where the one end of the plug in goes in. The other goes to the single gray wire. And the ground strap should hook up to the back support bracket to your intake, to a stop on the firewall just behind the shock tower.

The ground wire might have to go to the hood. As per the connectors plug one end of the paper clip into the top of the single wire connector. The bigger connector, you should plug into the top left port.
