my 1997 sho has code 500 vss sensor, this car does not have traditional screw in sensor like regular Taurus, that would be to easy. I was told vss is calculated through abs module, is this what I need?

Wow.
Haven't discussed this one in years.
Yes. The ABS module controls the speed signal for the V8 SHO's. There is no VSS. Only a blocking plate on the tranny where one would go into the lesser model AX4N.
When an ABS module dies, usually the ABS light comes on. Do you have an ABS light? Does the speedo still function normally?
Like I said, it has been years since I recall a P0500 discussion, but I think the ultimate solution was a new computer.
What code gets thrown for a bad wheel sensor that calculates speed?
I know they had abs sensors for vss signal. I just don't remember what happens when the sensors go bad and if they throw a code. I think you are on the right track. I was just hoping you could escape with less $
