A '93 ATX keeps storing code 212. Supposed to be the SPOUT. No other codes. No CE light. I've cleaned the SPOUT connectors with electronic cleaner, what else can I do? What should I be checking? Runs OK except for some preignition under load.

My documentation indicates code 212 is "Loss of ignition diagnostic monitor input to powertrain control module or spark output circuit grounded"

Possible causes:
• Open harness circuit.
• Shorted harness circuit.
• Damaged Ignition Control Module (ICM).
• Damaged PCM.

You might want to try using a good ICM and/or PCM(EEC) to see if these fix the problem. If they don't then I suspect you have a wiring problem.
