code 21 and 24

ok 21 ect (engine coolant temp) outta range or some stuff , well i have a radiator leak , will that cause that? ok 24 iat (intake air temp ) vat (vane air temp) now what causes this? the filter is out and the air box is just open , cuz im working on the car is that it or what?

The ECT informs the computer of the engine coolant temperature, and adjusts things like the fuel mixture and to tell when to turn the electric fan on (I think?) as well as other things im sure. Being low on coolant or having a radiator leak would not cause this sensor to throw a code. Sounds like the sensor is just shot. Its a $35 part at any local crap parts store. Do you know where its located? If not just ask thumb

The second code sounds like the sensor at the bottom of the air box. Was it unplugged while you ran the codes?

Before buying anything...

21 - Was the engine at operating temperature when you ran the test? If not, ignore.

24 - Was the ambient temperature at least 50F when you ran the test? If not, ignore.


You have to meet test pre-requisites before running them to get valid results.
