What size tires should I get with some 17" Cobra R's? What about lowering the SHO, how much should I lower it? Keep in mind I don't want to rub if the trunk is full.

235/45/17 or 235/50/17 are good sizes. Just remember they aren't actually cobra r's, they are SVT thunderbird wheels. Big difference in bolt pattern and offset. You only have two real choices in lowering (strut in knuckle or roush springs) so if you only want to drop a little (like 1/2") just drop the struts in the knuckles.

SVT thunderbird wheels. 5x108(4.25)bolt pattern with a +36 offset. Same as our SHO bp. The problem you may run into is the width of the wheel. I think these wheels are at least 9' - 9.5' wide. You are going to need a spacer(.25) and the wheel may stick outside of the wheel weld. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!

235x45x17 would do well on the 7.5" rims. If they are 9" rims, which sounds pretty wide to me so I am not convinced that is what would have come off a T-Bird, you would want to go to 245x45x17. Much wider and you might start getting touching of the strut and tire in hard cornering at speed. Mine are 8" wide, and I have run both the 235 and the 245 on them. Both worked very well.

Can the Cobra R be found in chrome with our BP instead of silver? If so, give me a lead and I will follow.
Yes, but not stock OE, only aftermarket replicas unless someone payed to have the OE's chromed.

And just to avoid any confusion to anyone looking at this thread in the future, they are SVT Thunderbird wheels, which are modeled after the Cobra R wheels, but they are not Cobra R wheels.
