Ok i have everything on the car. calipers were gravity bled than rebled normally. rotors are 13" cobra rotors, calipers are mach one. everything went on smoothly except the brake hoses, i had to modify the left side because of the lip on the calipers. with that said. i took it for a drive the pedal is hard, and the braking power is not as good as the stock set-up. I did this upgrade before on a 94 and the only difference was i used earls lines and it stopped on a dime. no brake fade. it was great. i have to push the pedal pretty hard to stop my car.

You need to resize your sig.

Are your bleeders facing up? If not that is your problem they need to be up to properly bleed them, not gravity. You need to flip the claipers around.

yes the bleeders are up. yeah sorry about the sig, ill fix that now. you can only gravity bleed them when they are up. and they were bled after that. i just do that so it takes less time to bleed.

i will not have anything on my cars other then these or larger from now on. incredible stopping power.

You either have something in the lines or alot of flex or collapse in the rubber hoses. I would not upgrade the setup without ss hoses, but you should have noticeable improvement even without them.

When you meant gravity bled what did you do? I would always go with the pumping of the brake lines.

you have to throw away those horrible pads that come on the cobra calapers, they are junk and they stop worse that motorcraft pads on 11.6's. get sticky pads you will love them then i promise!

motorcraft pads on 3rd gen brakes > motorcraft pads on cobras
sticky pads on 3rd gen brakes < sticky pads on cobras

I ran the stock Mach 1 pads at Gingerman and still on the street and they're great.

My pedal is stiff, but I also have stainless lines all around. So, I dont really have a comparison.

Agree that the suggestion to re-bleed your brakes and if possible use the two person bleed process. One person pumps the pedal X3-6time, then hold brake pedal down, then the other releases the brake bleeder on the caliper till the person holding the brake pedal feels the pedal go to the floor. Then tighten bleeder screw. Repeat 4-6 times per wheel. Cheap work out on leg muscles for the one pushing on the brake pedal :naughty:

Also, go with the Stainless Steel lines, worth every penny.

Good luck.

by gravity bleed, i mean i pop the bleeders on brand new calipers until the brake fluid starts coming out, since its the highest point. then yes i re bleed them with two people( the standard "up" "down" method) which i did again today aqnd no air what so ever. I have the russel ss lines, and blew through them and the difference is amazing. with stock lines there is way more resistance as far as blowing through it. I will change the pads as well. it think there must be a brake in period too maybe because i can feel them getting a little better now that the zinc coating is off the rotors. What is the best pad for this setup? BTW my pedal is very stiff compared to stock brakes is that normal and even after braking hard the calipers are warm to the touch but the rotars are hot as heck.

Yes. With the ss hoses the pedal will feel much stiffer. Your pads should be broken in to get the best performance from any setup. Sounds like your setup is starting to show benefits.

There are two types of pads that come on the Cobra calipers: Motorcraft (I have no experience with) and PBR pads which are a great dual-purpose street/strip pad.

Do you have the part number for the PBR pads. They did me well at Gingerman last spring. Going there again in a couple weeks and hope they are up to it.

I don't think PBR makes pads. They make the calipers, but 412 series pads from any manufacturer (well, that makes 412s, anyway) will work.

I have PF pads on the silver car right now, just because I had a set laying around that orginally came from Baer. I've used Porterfields for the track but I think Hawk et al make 412 pads as well.
