I have read that the Cobra 17's will mount up on 89 SHO's. I have the original 15" rims on my SHO. Seems like there would be clearance probs with the front struts. Am I dillusional? Will they actually fit? Or need more backspacing? Have only owned my SHO for about a year. Love this car more than my girlfriend. I have raced a hopped up Chevy shortbed with Corvette motor, '99 Mustang GT, and a '96 Impala SS. Never had a prob winning a race. My car gets plenty of looks and have had several offers for it. Not selling this car ever.

The Cobra look a likes "t-bird svt" rims will fit your Sho. The only problem might be some fender issues in the rear, depending on how big of a tire you run.

Thats funny you mentioned that Jay. In April the red b@stard is going for its 60K w/ a few mods wink and I'm going to need to drive the 91'. I don't want to burn up the Blizzaks so I was going to put on the svt's. I'm curious to see if they work.

Yes and no...

Here's the thing, the Cobra rims will NOT fit, but 17x9" Cobra Replica rims will w/ a spacer for them. These rims use the 5x4.25 bolt pattern rather then a 5x4.5 mustang pattern. These, too, are meant for Thunderbirds and also for Mark 8s. Capitalwheels.com has them. However, they have a 36mm offset, you want at least a 40mm offset w/ a SHO. That's when the spacers come into the picture. I'm going w/ this setup on my '91 as soon as I figure out which brakes I want to go with for the fronts. Cobra 13" brakes are adaptable w/ 17" rims, but offer the 2-piston floating calipers. I Don't mind the floating calipers much, but there are also 4 and 6 piston calipers available, which aren't floating (fixed typed)... However, Gary Morrell also added that these calipers are ENORMOUS and require 2.5" clearance from the rim.. These will make or break my decision on which rims to buy with the brakes! wink
