I have a bout 70 k on the clutch now. No problems. Normal driving, some stop and go and lots of highway miles. I got to do some front suspension work and thought it might be a good time to just get it done. How many miles can you get on average with normal driving. If I am within 10 k of replacing it, I might as well do it now. What do you think? It is just a standard aftermarket replacement clutch in the car now.

That's actually good for the clutch. As a rule, it isn't the disc that usually wears out on these cars, it's the fingers on the pressure plate. If pedal feel is good and it still shifts smooth, let it be. Otherwise do it for convenience.

That's true, the T/O bearing cuts groves in the pressure plate release fingers, reducing the plate travel. My original Ford clutch gave up at 74k, and the second unit is an Advance stores assembly with about 125k on it now. I drive the car every day, but don't burn tires or bang gears, just run it fast and sling it in corners. Turned out the Advance assembly was exactly the same manufacture as the OEM unit we took out. You'll know when it's time, you'll have to shut it off to put it in reverse, and it'll try to creep with the pedal to the floor at traffic lights. With 10000 to go, unless you're having the engine out for something, I'd leave it alone, you'll know when it's time.

My last clutch went ~100K miles in normal driving. That was all new Ford parts. Will the rebuilt pressure plates we have to use now last that long - who knows? I kind of doubt it. But if it's still engaging when the pedal is well off the floor and it's engaging smoothly, I would leave it alone.
