Hey everyone. I know this topic has been discussed MANY, MANY times but I can't seem to find any information on the question I'm about to ask.

When I took my car to Aamco last year to have them install my new clutch I had them check the self-adjusting mechanism. The pedal never felt like it was engaging and disengaging the clutch at the right spot, and they suggested that I get one of the BBK adjusters that are used on the Mustangs. Will these actually work on our cars??????

After the new clutch was put in the clutch was doing it's thing with the clutch pedal about half-way through it's travel. As time progressed the catching point of the clutch ended up with the pedal being almost all of the way out. This may have contributed to my pre-mature clutch failure.... because after the new clutch was installed I was back 5k miles needing another clutch.

Well I had the SPEC clutch installed this time around, with a brand new clutch cable, and it's the same thing-- the catching point WAS with the pedal half-way out when I first got it back, now the catching point is with the pedal almost all of the way out again. I had my whole clutch pedal apart just days before the SPEC was installed and the quadrant assembly looked completely fine. The teeth on the gears were perfect and it seemed there was nothing wrong. But I get no clicking when trying to adjust the cable with the clutch pedal and I don't know what else to do. I want to get this fixed before I ruin my newest clutch, so does anyone have any other suggestions to fixing my issue??

Thanks in advance!

Maybe you have a cable problem. I did not catch your mileage on the car, but maybe the cable has stretched, and the quadrant can not compensate?

i hate to hijack the thread, but since we are on the topic....

mine has been doing the same thing... but i can pull up on it, and it will reset, and start to catch normally again. But after a few engaugments, or a wot run, the pedal gets hard, and the release is very high, almost to the end of the pedal movement.

also, i have been experiencing hard-to-shift at wot.. I have to wait for the rpms to drop, a fair amount before i can get it into gear... but IIRC when the release of the clutch is high, and the pedal firm, it is not as difficult to get into gears...

the clutch was just replaced, a few thousand miles ago.... and it has seen its spirited drives, but, it is a SS hi revs jr. or CM1, whichever you prefer... it almost feels as if i have broke/bent another set of straps.....

Sorry to bring up such an old topic, but this is exactly what is happening to my clutch I just got put on about 500 miles ago.. I have a feeling this contributed to my last clutch failure too. Pulling up on the pedal does nothing but hit the stop. Any other way to adjust the pedal so that it grabs about mid way like it was doing up until yesterday? Now it grabs all the way at the end of the pedal travel, meaning with the pedal almost fully "up" or released. Is that normal?
