SO heres a little story. I was coming home from work and i get in the car to start it and the clutch pedal WILL NOT go down all the way. gets to just about the friction point and there is far too much tension. Well i get it to go far enough to start and struggle getting it into different gears as the pedal is barely going to that point. I go to shift into 3rd and i hear a loud pop followed by the pedal going all the way to the floor. I suspected the cable was bad so i slapped a brand new one on aaaand...nothing. I did prop up the pedal and everything while installing. When i hooked the cable to the tranny side my friend watched the adjuster and it was pulled all the way back (giving the cable slack) and now it stays at its highest position. When you push in the clutch it does nothing with the adjuster or cable as if the pedal and cable are not at all connected or the cable and adjuster arent connected therefore connecting the cable. Anyone have ideas of what is wrong and what i should look for? Sorry for the long winded post!

Can you see the throw out bearing actuation fork (arm that clutch cable attaches to) moving back and forth when you push the clutch pedal?

Fingers worn through, followed by damage to the quadrant with you stepped on it.

no the cable and fork do not move when i push in the clutch. there is no tension on the clutch but it does come back to its upward position when i take my foot off. there were no other shifting problems before this

Can you move the fork by hand on top of the tranny?
If so, you probably broke the bolt that holds the TOB fork to the lever.

So you can only move the lever on top of the tranny a 1/4 inch by hand? Then what? Does it get very hard and you can't move it any more?

I'm just trying to help you figure out where the problem is exactly. Tranny end, or clutch pedal end? So far it sounds like you will need a new clutch quadrant and pawl.

That's cause the quadrant broke when you forced it to the floor (of course the spring didn't break, so thats why the pedal comes up). You had to force it to the floor (probably) because the fingers are worn through and the TOB was getting jammed up.

i was thinking maybe the spring came off the quadrant but havent been able to check. ill have to check if the lever will move any more i didnt put much force on it as i didnt want anything to get worse. the quadrant and pawl and spring all come as a kit correct?

Pull the starter and have a look-see at the pressure plate with an inspection mirror.

First of all lift the clutch pedal and jamb a wrench or piece of wood under there then go under the hood and unhook the cable from the arm. Then try and move the arm around. There is a chance that the TOB pushed though the PP and the clutch cable tension has taken up all the slack. You can also pull the cable under the hood hook it back up then go back in car and push pedal and pull up on it to see if it will set the tension again it will rule that out work or not as well.

i miss judged how much it moved. it does move half an inch maybe more but doesnt seem like enough movement. how much movement should there be in the lever? it will not adjust because the quadrant is not connected to the pedal somehow. the doesnt move at all when the pedal is in.

The ceramic TOB will prolong the life of the PP and avoid the issue that you may have just encountered. Well worth it. If I was you and planned on working that car hard. Get a CM stage 1 from SHONUT with the un modded pressure plate

Don't worry about a ceramic tob. Get a valeo or equivalent. Bolt ons won't net but so many ponies.
