I was driving home from school and all of a sudden when I press the clutch in, or take it out it makes a funny sound. the sound is similar to a tire pump (it sounds airy). Does it need to be lubricated or is there something horribly wrong.

Also my lever for the gas tank has stopped working. I have to use the emergency cord in the trunk. My guess is that there is a cable that has snapped. ( I guess you use it a lot getting + - 18mpg. Has anybody had this happen before and can pinpoint the cause.

The clutch noise could be caused by your throw out bearing, although I've never heard mine make a sound like you describe. Mine has always been more along a whining or chattering noise. You may want to try and put your foot under the clutch pedal and pull up with your foot as hard as you can. If you hear a click that's ok. It's just something to try and I am no clutch expert.

Regarding the lever for the gas tank...the cable is more than likely frozen up inside or broken. If you can't pull the lever up I'd say it's frozen. In this case you can try to spray some lubricant in there to loosen it up but it will take some time and work to get it there. If it's really loose, then it's probably broken in which case replacement is your only option.

Sorry I'm not more help.
