Hi all,

My SHO has about 56k on her. I have been having some issues lately with shifting. I have done the clutch adjustment, heard the customary 'click' --- I've done this many time since, but with no results in better shifting.

Here's the deal: I have had my SHO since 1997 and 21k. I have always noticed a little resistance while shifting into any gear, expecially reverse.
Lately, however, I have been having great difficulty shifthing... there is a lot of resistance trying to get it into any gear at this time.

I have experienced no slipping of the clutch and do not abuse the car. At this point in time it is in the garage, I am not using it until I figure out what is wrong, simple or otherwise.......

Is this a clutch, PP, TOB issue.... OR is this an issue with the clucth cable itself (possibly a crimp in the cable, a collapsed cover etc. making any adjustment impossible??)

Any and all help is much appreciated. I perfer not to replace the clutch if there are other options to explore first, 56k is not enough mileage IMO to **** a clutch and associated parts.

PP/TOB indeed.
And yes, 5k is plenty out of a FWD mtx sedan.

Your disc is worn but not overworn, and your TOB is eating its way thru the PP fingers.

Better start ordering clutch parts.

Well, first things first. First thing to do is remove the fill plug and check that there is plenty of fluid in it. You might consider replacing the fluid if it's never been done before. Double check all the connections where the shifter comes down through the floor and then where they connect at the tranny. Sometimes these things come loose or a bolt breaks and it can cause some symtoms similar to what you speak of.

If you find all things ok then I agree that it's time to drop the tranny and check the clutch disk, PP and TOB. 56k is I think average for a stock clutch kit so it's time. If you end up dropping the tranny then you may as well open it up and check the blocking rings and synchros. It doesn't cost that much to do and is well worth it if you plan on keeping the car.

Let me know if you need any help or have questions. I'll help where I can if you need me.
