Here's my situation. I've pulled my clutch out 4 times now and reinstalled it with no positive results. The car will start, but won't drive headbang . There is no grinding or anything of that sort. I tried adjusting the clutch cable(loose and tight) many times without any different results. The car ran when i go it, but the TOB got stuck due to the bushings on the fork. All the clutch would do is burn. Now the only noise coming from the clutch is a small wistling noise from the new TOB hitting the PP. This noise only happens when the clutch is at a certain spot. The clutch pedal feels really soft and the car is a 91 w/rod shifter. Does any one have any idea what is wrong? All/any imput is greatly appreciated.THANKS

If you try shifting into reverse with the engine running and the clutch pedal up, do you grinding? If not, the pressure plate is not engaging the friction disk to the flywheel. That could be from an incorrectly installed friction disk, incorrectly assembled pressure plate or a trowout bearing that is constantly pressing against the pressure plate. Verify the clutch release level is fully retracted with the clutch pedal up. If the cable has been disconnected to check then yes, it is. Did you replace the shift fork's pivot bushings? Did you verify that the shift shaft is freely rotating?

Try jacking one front wheel off the ground. Put the tranny in 4th or 5th gear and see if the wheel turns. If the clutch is holding expect a few inches of tire rotation as the slack in the drivetrain is taken up. After that you should not be able to turn it by hand. If you're gorilla sized you may be able to turn the engine over that way. From the clutch's perspective, that's good. Try all the gears. Lift both wheels, with the tranny in gear the tires should rotate in opposite directions. We can't see much from here, that's why I'm getting back to basic stuff.

It doesn't grind into reverse,or any gear. I think the "trowout bearing that is constantly pressing against the pressure plate". When i turn the drivers wheel the halfshaft moves a little, but no even a half rotation. I drove this SHO home then the clutch went. I took everything apart and found that the TOB wasn't releasing all the way and the clutch was just burning.

When you changed the TOB did you make sure the bolt going through the release shaft into the TOB fork was firmly in place. If it isn't going through and tightened down correctly, as a far shot the release shaft could be spinning without making the release fork move the TOB.
