92 MTX with 105K miles. Bought at 102K miles Ford installed Clutch with 40K miles when right away. Suburban Transmission did work new TOB, PP and disk. 6500 mile warranty. After 1200 miles started to slip so bad took back and they replaced (I hope) the disk etc. Now at about 1800 miles same story. Checked cable ajustment and movement everything looks good. Read up on clutches and see that these cars are clutch eaters if the right parts are not used or put in wrong. Some heavy driving but no drag strip every day. Any ideas on why this is happening? Shop will not repair again, nor do I want them to!

Clutch problems are so difficult to figure out without a parts list of what they used, and probably pics of everything. Also, they are easy to dump that fast if the car isn't being properly driven. Not accusing anyone of anything, but it only takes a few bad habits to **** a clutch fast... More details on what they used for parts/kit are in order to make a good reccomendation.

Hopefully the rev. B TOB was installed with the clutch. In this revision, the TOB rides on a metal sleeve that slips over the input shaft of the transmission. This sleeve must be spiked to the input shaft or it can cause problems. It happened to me and manifested as increasing difficulty in shifting that eventually became impossible. I did my second clutch job after less than 5000 miles and made sure to spike the sleeve on this time. Shifts great now.

if they didnt do it right ie. not fully seat the PP to the flywheel... you can have problems like this... when the clutch wears down... the pp will no longer engage or fully engage with the clutch...

get a good kit, and do it yourself... there are probably a few sho owners in your area that would be more than willing to help out for a six-pack

just a thought but have you broken in the clutch each time? because not breaking in the clutch can significantly hurt the clutch life and make it slip at a very early age. Im pretty sure thats all clutches but it could be more race clutches then oem replacement.

agreed, a proper break in period of 400-500 miles
needs to be observed anytime a new cluthc is installed, was this done?

Thank you all for the replys. I have finished reading some of the other threads and it seems like there are many things that can go wrong. In regard to the break-in period, is there a specific guide on exactly what should be done during the break in period? This was the first time in my life I had a car with a brand new clutch.

You should get your money back if they don't want to do the work. If you like to throw away money throw some my way. I'll send you a thank you card.
