Lots of penetrating oil, lots of working it back and forth and up and down, and sometimes even then a pry bar and/or rubber mallet may be needed.

Every clutch job or tranny swap I do, I pull the fork, bead blast it and the TOB fork, paint it all up and clean the bushings. It makes a world of difference.

Note to keep in mind: Do NOT bang on flat sides of the lever with a hammer. You can bend the arm with enough banging.

thanks i will try it. what im trying to find out is why the tob is not pulling back like it should it is binding. what i was thinking is to add another pin on the other side to pull it back evenly

Try replacing the quill sleeve.

i have and still does i got a spec 2 kit so im thinking of the other pin and getting the tob upgrade sho source

I once had to use a 3 ft metal pipe as a cheater bar and a block of wood behind the folk to break it lose. Even with all that leverage it did not come out easy. Damn the rust and bad weather of the northeast!

The TOB will not "pull back" smoothly on the quill/sleeve when the tranny is out of the car, even with a perfectly smoothly operating fork system.

In operation, the pressure plate fingers "push back" the TOB evenly. Trying to use the fork to "pull back" the TOB will result in it articulating and hanging up.

EXACTLY! Place your finger's on the face of the TOB, and then pull back on the lever. It will slide much easier. I have asked this same question to Mr. Joshua several years ago because I was worried just as you are.

P.S. I highly recomend the ceramic TOB shift fork bushings. They make the clutch sexy smooth.
