this is gonna get me some strange looks i'm sure.
(i tried to search but nothing similar was asked).
so here goes....

does any one have this problem...
my air blows ice cold until it gets comfortable in the car, then it seems like the "climate control sensor" in the SHO emblem on the dash is at "60o" and bang, it starts to kick some warmer air in. this happens on max a/c and on auto.

is there something i'm doing wrong? (my last car was a nissan pathfinder, ice cold air with a recirculate button, (i used to have to chase the penguins out before i got in, lol), this has been sort of annoying me the last few days, it's been in the 90's here, so i'm hoping i'm an idiot like an said and i'm not setting the controls correctly.

sorry so long

thanks in advance

tony

That's pretty weird---I would say that it is the automatic control but you said it does it for both max a/c and auto so I am baffled by this!!! That is screwed up since it blows cold for a while and then cranks warmer air--Possibly remove the sho logo and check out the sensor??!!

btw-Where are you from in PA?? If ur int. several sho owners from the nepa area get together every once and a while and cruise--if ur int/ message me back

Make sure there isn't dust and fur on the sensor by removing the "SHO" trim piece and blowing some air through the vent hole (you may have to use a small brush to get it all off). Also check the tube that goes down to the a/c housing and make sure it's attached.

The SHO emblem is just the location that the air is drwan in to get to the sensor. The interior temperature sensor is located closer to the blower housing. This sounds more like a climate control head unit problem. When the air blows hot, try slapping the dash with your palm above the climate control and glove box. If this changes anything, there is a loose connection to the head unit.

On my 95', the Temp. sensor is directly behind the SHO emblem. Wannabeshoman, you failed to mention if your A/C clutch was cycling during these warm spells. It's very common for our cars to have the system recharged or the clutch reshimmed. Many of these problems go unnoticed until the warm weather approaches. I would run the A/C self diagnostic and go from there. The most likely cause is the A/C clutch gap needs to be adjusted. The procedure is on www.shotimes.com. Good luck. :)

thanks for the input guys,

i will run the diag. but it seems like it is cycling, because if i run the air full bore with the window open (traffic or not) it'll blow cold air till the cows come home.

thanks for the help... i'll post back.

wannabeshoman... I think I know what you're talking about.... I had my old 94 do that to me, I ran the self diag.. (press off/floor at same time then release and press auto)... Let it run its course, I THINK it will bring up code 02, that means the blend door actuator.... My 94 had awesome air, and then one day started going to hot air, I would restart the system, it would go to cold for a while, and then it got a little worse. I never did replace it, but I have heard its not a big job... IF its not a code 2, than you can go from there, but if it is, its the blend door actuator, supposedly located on top of the evaporator case..
GOOD LUCK, let me know how it works out!
