As stated, the climate control works ok on my 96 but the radio does not. The clock doesn't even light up. I replaced the entire "football" with a known working unit but it still does the same thing. The lights in the buttons work when the headlights are on.

After replacing the football, I figured ok.....look at the fuses. But when looking in the book as to what that fuse controls in addition to the radio I didn't think that it could be blown. In the book it says that fuse 10 controls the EEC relay, ignition coil, PATS & Radio.

Any tips on what to check? It sucks having no radio.

Beth, has the radio or clock ever work or it just went out ? Sounds like you are not getting any power to the radio part. Get out your light tester and turn the key to the on position and see if you have power to some of those plugs.

No, it never worked since I got it. I spoke with Eric (who I bought the car from) and he said it didn't work when he had it either. Chris mentioned to me tonight on the phone that perhaps something with the control unit in the trunk may be disconnected so I'll be checking that tomorrow.

I did (much to my dismay now) disconnect the battery and cleaned the terminals, etc. tonight. Radio still doesn't power on. New problem now is the stupid alarm is now not allowing the car to start because it apparently reset when I disconnected the battery. So now I'm fighting a totally different battle, totally blind because I have no user manual for the remote start alarm system and I can't find it online. So if anyone has a Code Alarm system (Pro F50/55) and has a user manual on how to reset the darn thing please let me know.

If this is any indication on what my luck is going to be when working on this car I can hardly wait until it comes time to replace the #4 coil. OH JOY!!!!! At least I'm inside now out of the rain and in dry clothes. Next issue is to unkink my back and neck from being up under the dash.

Ahh the joys! Thank God for friends who call late at night and make me smile. Tomorrow is a new day, I'll get it figured out come **** or high water.

Beth, there should be a vallet switch some where under the front dash....they are mostly installed around the data port. Should be a little red button. push that in for about 5 seconds and try to start it.....it might work if it is a older remote start system....Good luck.

Yeah, I tried the valet button and I found the remote start toggle too. No go, it seems like the whole alarm is out of whack with the keyfob because of when I disconnected the battery. And you know, I had a gut feeling that I shouldn't mess with it last night......guess I should have listened.

Unfortunately no. The extra stickers with the code are not in the normal places either. Well, I don't have the original book for the car and it's not the computer so I'm SOL there me thinks.

Code-Alarm's website is useless for manuals, however their customer service is outstanding. We did find out that there are 2 systems in my car, the one brain box that I have pulled down is only remote start which starts the car just fine. The other system is an unknown model at this time (it's a Code Alarm) but I haven't found the brain box for it yet. I did find the additional valet mode button and I did get the car started finally without using the remote start. I just need to find the brain box and reset it now.

Progress is being made and my faith level is getting better, though there is still no luck wtih the radio. In time I'll figure that one out, I can only handle one catastrophe at a time. :nut: :)

Edit: I found the 2nd brain box and reset it. All is well on the alarm front. Now to tackle the radio issue.

Seen too many battery failures and jumped the gun without the whole story - :rolls back to his corner:

I got it figured out Eric. It's very funny that the radio doesn't function without the RCU. Go figure eh?

I can just see you cruising down the road with your head bobbing back and forth to the sound of a Barney or Hanson CD... :nut:
